Here's a list of common boiler issues that can come up. If you're seeing any of these, rest assured we're here to help you get everything running smoothly:

  1. No Heating or Hot Water
This might happen due to issues like low pressure, a thermostat problem, or a small component needing attention.

  2. Low Boiler Pressure
Sometimes, pressure drops if there's a leak, radiators have recently been bled, or there may be an internal issue with the expansion vessel. We'll check things over and top it up if needed.

  3. Strange Noises (like banging or whistling)
Boilers can make unusual sounds due to air in the system, a blockage, or a part that needs a little TLC.

  4. Boiler Failing to Light, Causing Lockout
A boiler may fail to light due to ignition issues, a blocked burner, gas supply issues, or a blocked/frozen condensate pipe, leading to a lockout fault.

  5. Radiators Not Heating Evenly
If parts of the radiator stay cold, air might be trapped, or a buildup of sludge might block the radiator's flow. If it's cold at the top, it's usually air and needs bleeding, and if it's cold at the bottom, it's usually a blockage and will need flushing out.

  6. Boiler Keeps Switching Off
This could happen if the water pressure is low or if a valve isn't fully open, both easy fixes.

  7. Frozen Condensate Pipe
During colder weather, this pipe can freeze, causing condensation to back up and essentially filling the combustion chamber. However, it's simple to thaw out with hot water poured over the condensate pipe outside. We recommend you book us in to upgrade the pipe and insulate to reduce this risk in the future.

  8. Thermostat Issues
If the temperature seems a bit off, it could be an old or slightly misaligned thermostat that needs adjusting.

  9. Leaking or Dripping Boiler
A small leak might happen if a valve or seal loosens up, which is straightforward to fix.

  10. Boiler Not Responding to Thermostat
This could be due to a low battery thermostat, a minor wiring issue or the unit has failed.

Let us know if you're experiencing any of these—we'll be happy to help get things back to normal quickly!
